Why do people colonize?

People colonize for various reason. One person that spent most of their time traveling and colonizing was King Leopold II'. As he was traveling, he went to many country and help them make the empire stronger and extend the territories more. People colonize other country, because to make their country more stronger and extend their properties. People colonize other countries, because they more power and money. Some people colonize, becasue of their culture or religion. At the old times each countries had different religion and culture, so people colonize to other countries in order for them to live their live. People have different way of living, not everybody is the same. Some people like to live where their culture or religion are in the countries and some like to live where they could have more money and power. People colonize countries for money and power. They do that, because if they rule the countries well they could make the countries more powerful, stronger, and also rich. If they re rich they control everything. When they have big population of people and small countries, they could make it larger.

When people colonize it leads to exploitation. In the picture it shows that the men is being threatened by the snake. It's usually when people are threatened by forced. In that time the man is the one who colonized. The snake is the colonizer, because he attacks the man by forced. That means that the man doesn't have enough power to stop the snake from attacking and he also wasn't prepared when the snake attack. If the people have power, he could probably stop the snake. So when the country is colonized, they won't know what's going to happen. So having more doesn't mean that you're getting everything, although there are things that will happen that you won't know. In the picture the man wasn't ready to fight the snake, because he don't have enough power to overcome it.

  1. Your post had a lot of reasons for why people colonize, but I think you could have gone into more detail regarding the reasons and perhaps give some real-life examples. You could have included why the British colonized Australia as an example to make the point clearer.

  2. The post states several reasons for colonization and gives detailed explanation in why colonization leads to exploitation. I can see that the man in the illustration symbolized as the colonized is exploited by the snake which symbolizes the colonizer because he is threatened and attacked by the snake but is unable to defend himself because he is weaker than the snake. I agree that colonization lead to exploitation because the colonizers have more power. The tragic event called the ‘Stolen Generation’ happened in Australia where the Aboriginal children were held in monasteries away from their family by the British colonizers because the Aboriginals didn’t have the power to resist. The colonization had more power due to advanced technology including weapons which allow them to abuse and take advantage of the colonized people. In my opinion, the exploitation was explained clearly but your reasons for colonization may need some more supporting examples. “How could make your reasons for colonization more convincing?”

  3. Your post is very meaningful and has lots of your own opinions. However, your post sometimes repeats sentences which mean the same. Furthermore, you made some grammatical mistakes. Yet, your posting is very relevant in explanation and show great detail. Moreover, I agree with your opinions you suggested in your posting. I also agree with your idea that says people colonize other countries to extend their territories and gain more power. Also, I agree with what you mentioned about the picture which says the person who is being squeezed by the snake is weaker. It's quite meaningful and true.
However, you could've explained more about the examples of colonizing other countries such as to earn money by selling the resources extracted from the Indeginous people's land.

  4. Brilliant posting! :)

You did an outstanding job on your 2nd paragraph! I love the way you used the image in order to explain 'colonization to exploitation.' It's very meaningful and easily understood. Your first paragraph is equally good, though I really thought that this particular posting would be a boring one because your opening sentence was, 'As he was traveling, he went to many country and help them make the empire stronger and extend the territories more. People colonize other country, because to make their country more stronger and extend their properties.' Doesn't the first sentence have the same meaning as the second one? You could have made it more interesting and catching. As I've said earlier, it's a brilliant posting and I can't wait for your next one.

  5. Nice to read your posting. Your use of the editorial cartoon is very effective and your final paragraph helps give that example.

Your first paragraph has a lot of generalities about colonization, but lacked specific examples from the British, French, Portugese or Belgian colonial enterprises.

Do you think it is possible to colonize without exploitation? Or do they go hand-in-hand?

From a grammatical viewpoint, you will want to carefully proofread. I notice that you have a problem, especially with plurals. "As he was traveling, he went to many country and help them make the empire stronger and extend the territories more."

Countries vs. country. Having someone help you proofread your posts will help them carry more weight.
